Chiropractic was discovered in 1895 by DD. Palmer. Since its discovery chiropractors have ‘added millions of years to millions of lives’. Although there are many different techniques, chiropractors all work to increase the body’s ability to heal itself.
Chiropractic techniques involve a variety of tools, all designed to remove the interference to the nervous system. By removing interference to the nervous system, the body is enabled to heal itself.
Your first visit to a Doctor of Chiropractic will begin with a thorough history. It is important to establish any lifestyle, environmental or family history that could be contributing to your health condition. After the history the Doctor will perform a variety of exam procedures to locate specific areas of interference. Often times the Doctor will want more time to review your case or order laboratory tests or x-rays if your condition is more complex. In subsequent visits, the Doctor will present you with a detailed summary of your condition and a treatment plan specifically designed to restore your body’s well-being.
Treatment varies with the individual. Most conditions require an initial period of intensive care. Intensive care is designed to get you out of pain. After intensive care, more visits are required to strengthen your body. This period of care is critical to obtain lasting results.
Chiropractic is safe. According to The Manga Report, commissioned by the Canadian Health Ministry, ‘our reading of the literature suggests that chiropractic manipulation is safer than medical treatment of lower back pain’.
Chiropractic works. According to The New Zealand Commission,’ We are satisfied that spinal manipulation therapy can be beneficial…and that chiropractors are the practitioners best qualified to administer it.’
Thousands of people have used chiropractic as their primary defense against pain and disease. Beneficial results have been scientifically proven for low back pain, headaches and neck pain as well as a host of stress related disorders from allergy and asthma to heartburn and indigestion.
